We are literally bouncing off the walls with excitement here at FWC HQ as we are thrilled to announce that Claire Lomas MBE, the one and only super woman has joined our family team as BRAND AMBASSADOR.
Claire encompasses everything we want our brand to reflect; a go getting brand that grasps opportunities and thrives of being outdoors and active.
10 years ago Claire was involved in a freak Eventing accident, which changed her life completely. Claire fractured her neck, dislocated her back, fractured ribs, punctured lung and got pneumonia and left her paralysed from the chest down.
But this didn’t stop Claire living life on the edge. Instead she grasped life with both hands, married Dan and had two lovely children, as well as….Well where do we start!
She took up skiing again, riding, got her motorbike racing licence, hand cycling, became a motivational speaker, lit the Olympic Torch, AND learnt to walk again with the aid of the wonderful ‘Fred’ her robotic suit.
He enabled Claire became the first and only paralysed person to walk the London Marathon in 2012, and the Great North Run for charity.
What’s Next For Claire
On the 21/22nd October 2017 Claire will push herself again beyond her limits to compete the Great South Run – 10 miles in 24 hours…yes, that’s half a walk in the dark.
Not being able to feel where you are putting your feet is surely hard enough of a challenge, but not being able to see where you are putting your feet, well that’s a challenge a step too far…but not for Claire. #10in24
Claire is pushing herself to her limits and way out of her comfort zone to raise money and the profile of “NSIF“, Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation – dedicated founder of research at the forefront of treating paralysis caused by spinal cord injury.
Basically Claire wants to get people walking again.
